Adobe Guadalupe

Valle de Guadalupe

Beauty, Serenity, and A Sense of Home for All Who Visit

The minute you pass through the gates and enter the impressive courtyard of Adobe Guadalupe, you will recognize this place is special. It’s more than just a winery; it’s a memorial inspired by a mother’s love and her son’s fascination with the Mexican culture. The history of the renowned vineyard is soul-stirring and unforgettable. The owner, Tru Miller, created this remarkable place for her son’s spirit to rest. After her son’s death, Tru took a trip to Paris. While visiting the iconic cathedral of Notre Dame, she noticed a Mexican chair with a sarape thrown over it. This reminded her of Arlo because he was fascinated with many aspects of Mexican culture – from sarapes to the Virgin of Guadalupe.

What seemed out-of-place then, would later reveal a special message from her son. A few years later, in her quest to find a permanent place to lay Arlo’s ashes, Tru went back to the cathedral and found the chair was still there in a side altar dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe. At that moment, Miller had a clear vision. Even in death Arlo did not want to be apart from her and would prefer a warm resting place, so she purchased the land in Mexico that would become Adobe Guadalupe winery.

In 1997, 20 hectares of vineyards were planted and began the winery’s vast grape offerings including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, Nebbiolo, Syrah, Malbec, Cinsault, Grenache and Mourvedre. The first harvest was in 2001, and only 500 cases were made. Now, Adobe Guadalupe produces roughly 9,000 cases and is acknowledged as some of the best wine in Mexico. Fittingly, the wines are named after archangels. The property invites guests to stay at the boutique six-room inn, dine alfresco at the seasonal restaurant El Jardin, enjoy a snack or beer at the food truck, and sample wine, mezcal, tequila, beer, olive oil, and other locally-made items at the wine tasting room.

Other unique activities offered at Adobe Guadalupe include horseback riding at the renowned Azteca Breeding and Training Centre, Flamenco and Sevillanas dance performance with the beautiful Azteca horses, mountain views from the Moroccan garden, and the shrine dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe. Designed by Neil Haghighat, Adobe Guadalupe has a classic hacienda-style architecture and incorporates Persian inspired elements. Whether staying the weekend or merely passing through for an afternoon, guests are sure to experience relaxation and comfort on a grand scale. The true ambiance of Adobe Guadalupe is created by a harmonious combination of love, nature, wine, upscale cuisine, animals, beautiful sunsets, and art. Fulfilling Miller’s purpose, the winery has become a haven where Arlo’s memory is felt all around – a real gem of the valley. As the owners say “Come experience peacefulness, serenity, and sense of home for yourself at Adobe Guadalupe.”

Our Recommendation

ADOBE FOOD TRUCK

If you are ready to take your perception of food truck fare up a notch be sure to experience the Adobe Food Truck. This permanent food truck is nestled among the lovely gardens of the winery and contains mountain views with a casual, restful atmosphere. Everything on the menu is delicious; however, our recommendation is to elevate the flavors of the food by ordering the suggested wine pairings.

Leda & Pita the talented chefs, actually created each item on their Tapas menu to pair perfectly with an Adobe wine. Grab a table and take the opportunity to enjoy Adobe Guadalupe’s renowned wines while at the same time experiencing the gourmet food at the popular food truck. So, enhance your wine tasting experience by matching great wine with great food – we promise you won’t be disappointed.
